Henry Hiteman Engine & Hose Company Inc. (HHE&H)
HHE&H is a private social organization associated with the fire department, operating as a not-for-profit corporation in New York State. It serves the benevolent interests of both the department and its members.
The fire department's membership consists of HHE&H members who are committed to providing fire protection for the Village of West Winfield and the Town of Winfield, while also offering mutual aid to neighboring communities.
HHE&H raises funds through a variety of fundraising initiatives, including raffles (such as the Great Greenback Giveaway), breakfasts, dinners, BBQs, pool filling services, boot drives, Super Bowl Wings events, and other activities, in addition to accepting donations.
The funds generated by HHE&H are primarily used to purchase equipment, apparatus, and other resources essential for the Village to provide effective fire protection services to the community.
West Winfield Fire Department (WWFD)
The West Winfield Fire Department serves as the fire protection entity for the village. Funding is secured through tax revenues collected from Village residents, along with a contract with the Town of Winfield for fire protection for town residents. These funds support the general operations of the fire department, covering expenses such as insurance, building and vehicle maintenance, fuel, equipment, equipment upkeep, and the acquisition of new equipment and vehicles.
Additionally, cooperative agreements exist among the Village, Town, and HHE&H to finance both current and future apparatus acquisitions.
